201306: The Archaeological Dig in the Ancient Roman City of Sanisera

General Information

Mapping toolThe Cavalleria Ecomuseum Field Program offers an annual archaeology dig on the island of Menorca, off the coast of Spain. In 1996 the Ecomuseum started running this school of archaeology. Since then it has organized courses for students who come from all over the world to study abroad and who are interested in Roman cities and Classical archaeology.

In 2013, we will be excavating the Ancient Roman City of Sanisera, which overlooks the natural port of Sanitja. The excavation is directed by Fernando Contreras, director of the Cavalleria Ecomuseum Field Program, and other experienced archaeologists.

The fieldwork focuses on Classical Archaeology, and specifically on Roman archaeology.
