Fernando Contreras Rodrigo. (Lleida, 1967). Director of the excavations at Sanitja and of the Ecomuseum de Cap de Cavalleria since 1997. President of the association “Sa Nitja. Gestión del Patrimonio Mediterráneo” founded in 1993. He obtained the Prize Fundació “la Caixa” in 1992: “Revalorització Ciutats Romanes de Catalunya i Illes Balears”. FPI U.A.B. Internship 1991-95. His research fields are: Romanization in Minorca; Archaeological software; Cultural management; Museum development for the heritage of Sanitja and the Cap de Cavalleria. Director of the excavations in Mago (Pla Mirall, 2000-2002), Iamo (Correos, 1999), and Sanisera (Prospection 1993-1995, Excavation 1996-1998). His projects involving Minorca’s cultural heritage include: Defense Tower in Fornells (CIM – 1996), Ecomuseum de Cap de Cavalleria (Leader II – 1997), Cavalleria Lighthouse (Futures – 1998).
Alba Mazza Messina, Italy, 1984). Co-director of the Underwater Archaeology project of the Ecomuseo de Cavalleria. She is an underwater archaeologist who also received a degree in Conservation of the Archaeological Heritage. She has also a degree in advanced studies in Prehistory (University of Padova) and several Master's degrees to take an specialty in "Roman Archaeology in the Mediterranean" (CNR-MIBAC) and "Underwater Archaeology" (University of Bologna, Italy). He has participated in several projects carried out in different Mediterranean countries such as Greece, France, Tunisia and Italy. Her current research field is focused on Mediterranean trade routes from Prehistory until the Medieval Period. She is knowledgeable in robotics and advanced tools for surveys applied to Underwater Archaeology. She was in charge of underwater survey and excavation projects in Turkey and Sicily (Italiy). She has recently participated in studies focused on applying archaeometrical analysis on Punic amphorae and Prehistoric pottery.
Pere Massó Bachpol (Girona, Spain, 1975) Assistant in the Underwater Archaeology Project run by the Cape of Cavalleria Ecomuseum. From 2007 he has participated in the project as an active member of the international courses, focused on the underwater survey of the Port of Sanitja (Menorca). His main interests include the Roman world, the History of Menorca, the identification of Roman pottery, as well as the planning and development of the techniques used in the different tasks related to underwater surveys and excavations.
