On July 26, 2005, at 8 pm, the new exhibition “Discover the North” was inaugurated to mark the 10th anniversary of the Ecomuseum de Cap de Cavalleria. This new exhibition, with a very international projection, was sponsored within the frame of the European Union programme Culture 2000, that covered 50% of its cost.
The exhibition “Discover the North” is dedicated to Mr. José Maria Olivar Despujol in recognition of his support and collaboration to base the Ecomuseum in his property, in the area known as Santa Teresa, very close to the Sanitja harbour and that has become the central point in the northern part of Menorca, besides its function as the Ecomuseum's exhibition room.
The event was attended by representatives of the most important institutions in Menorca, from the Balearic government, Menorca's Island Council and the municipality of Es Mercadal .
The event was presented by the European project coordinator, Fran Valle, supervisor of the financial aid obtained by the association "Sa Nitja" to renovate the exhibition inside the Ecomuseum building.
A lso, the event had two special guests. Alba Sintes, director of the Mahón's "Estudi de Dansa" dance school, performed a contemporary style choreography to open the evening.
