THE ECOMUSEUM> How to get there?
The aim of the Ecomuseum de Cap de Cavalleria is to protect, preserve, investigate, and make known the natural and cultural resources of the territory around Cavalleria and the harbour of Sanitja.
Cavalleria and Sanitja are located on the north coast of Minorca, very close to the village of Fornells. There are two ways to get there.
The first option is the road form the village of Es Mercadal, in the centre of the island. From there we follow the signs pointing to the northern beaches (“playas del norte”) that will take us through the Tramontana way (“camino de Tramontana”). Some three kilometres later we take the way to Cavalleria, following the signs pointing to the Ecomuseum (“Ecomuseo de Cap de Cavalleria”), and with no further problem, we can leave our vehicle in the parking area on the rural farm of Santa Teresa, the headquarters of the Ecomuseum.
Another way to get to the Ecomuseum is the north road, starting in Maó and ending a few kilometres away from Fornells. At the end of the road, we can take the road towards the Tirant Bay (“Cala Tirant”), the Ecomuseum and the Lighthouse of Cap de Cavalleria (“Faro”). From there, following the Ecomuseum signs for some 9 kilometres in a narrow road surrounded by the beautiful sights of the Minorcan countryside and the Tirant Albufera.
