Fernando ContrerasFernando Contreras Rodrigo. (Lleida, 1967). Director of the excavations at Sanitja and of the Ecomuseum de Cap de Cavalleria since 1997. President of the association “Sa Nitja. Gestión del Patrimonio Mediterráneo” founded in 1993. He obtained the Prize Fundació “la Caixa” in 1992: “Revalorització Ciutats Romanes de Catalunya i Illes Balears”. FPI U.A.B. Internship 1991-95. His research fields are: Romanization in Minorca; Archaeological software; Cultural management; Museum development for the heritage of Sanitja and the Cap de Cavalleria. Director of the excavations in Mago (Pla Mirall, 2000-2002), Iamo (Correos, 1999), and Sanisera (Prospection 1993-1995, Excavation 1996-1998). His projects involving Minorca’s cultural heritage include: Defense Tower in Fornells (CIM – 1996), Ecomuseum de Cap de Cavalleria (Leader II – 1997), Cavalleria Lighthouse (Futures – 1998).

JO.JPGJoanna Hurst (Taunton, England, 1982). Director of the necropolis excavations at Sanisera.  Studied at the universities of Leicester (BSc Hons in Archaeology and Geography, 2003) and Durham (MSc Palaeopathology. 2004).  Research areas: environmental archaeology, bioarchaeology and palaeopathology.  Worked for Several British commercial archaeological companies since finishing university, most recently as Project Officer for Pre-Construct Archaeology on the Glasgow M74 development.  Physical anthropologist for the AHRC funded "Inca Ushnus: Landscape, Site and Symbol in the Andes" project, Ayacucho, Peru, 2007.  Excavation experience in Britain, Peru, Zambia and Spain.

 

 

Regina MüllerThaïs Fadrique Rubio (Barcelona, 1975). Licensed in history and archaeology from the University of Barcelona.  Maters in Human Biology from the University Autónoma de Barcelona. Currently working on a Doctorate in Human Biology in the University Autónoma de Barcelona.  Member of the Grup de Recerca en Osteobiografia (GROB), dedicated to the investigation and reconstruction of the ancient populations of sites in Catalunya and the Balearic Islands.  Has participated in university excavation projects and in anthropological studies of various site as well as in various national and international conferences, expositions and publications, principally of Asociación Española de Paleo patología, la Sociedad Española de Antropología y la Associació Catalano-Balear de Paleopatologia. Has also worked on various scientific projects as an independent archaeologist specialized in anthropology.

 

Lana JohnsonLana Johnson. (Red Bluff, California, USA, 1980). Secretary and Treasurer of the association “Sa Nitja. Gestión del Patrimonio Mediterráneo” and of the Ecomuseum of the Cape of Cavalleria. B.A. in psychology (Phi Beta Kappa), University of California Santa Cruz, 2004. Course coordinator, student adviser and translator for the archaeological field school.

 

 

cristina bravo retrato.jpgCristina Bravo (Alicante, Spain 1984) received her degree in English Philology at the University of Alicante (2002-2006), with an Erasmus grant in the Celtic department of the University of Aberdeen (2005-2006). Postgraduate Master's degree in Medieval Studies at the University of Aberdeen (2006-2007). She has worked as an assistant archaeologist in several excavations dating from different periods in UK and Spain. She is the assistant archaeologist/translator for the archaeological field school.
