THE ROMAN CITY EXCAVATION>
Staff

Fernando ContrerasFernando Contreras Rodrigo. (Lleida, 1967). Director of the excavations at Sanitja and of the Ecomuseum de Cap de Cavalleria since 1997. President of the association “Sa Nitja. Gestión del Patrimonio Mediterráneo” founded in 1993. He obtained the Prize Fundació “la Caixa” in 1992: “Revalorització Ciutats Romanes de Catalunya i Illes Balears”. FPI U.A.B. Internship 1991-95. His research fields are: Romanization in Minorca; Archaeological software; Cultural management; Museum development for the heritage of Sanitja and the Cap de Cavalleria. Director of the excavations in Mago (Pla Mirall, 2000-2002), Iamo (Correos, 1999), and Sanisera (Prospection 1993-1995, Excavation 1996-1998). His projects involving Minorca’s cultural heritage include: Defense Tower in Fornells (CIM – 1996), Ecomuseum de Cap de Cavalleria (Leader II – 1997), Cavalleria Lighthouse (Futures – 1998).

Regina MüllerRegine Müller (Gieβen, Germany) studied Early- and Prehistoric Archaeology in Gieβen, Germany. Graduated 2003 with Magister Artium (M.A.). Co-director of the excavations of Sanitja since 2006. Postgraduate student at the University of Frankfurt, undertaking the archaeological and archaeometrical analysis of the Sanisera lead finds. Chairman of the non-profit society Archaeology in the Gleiberger Land e.V., which focuses upon the research around the Celtic settlement of the Dünsberg, Germany. Co-director of the research and rescue excavations there. Excavation experience from early Neolithic to late medieval sites.

Lana Johnson

Lana Johnson. (Red Bluff, California, USA, 1980). Secretary and Treasurer of the association “Sa Nitja. Gestión del Patrimonio Mediterráneo” and of the Ecomuseum of the Cape of Cavalleria. B.A. in psychology (Phi Beta Kappa), University of California Santa Cruz, 2004. Course coordinator, student adviser and translator for the archaeological field school.

Tatiana ValenteTatiana Valente. (Aveiro, Portugal 1988). Currently working in inventory, photography, drawing and classification of the ceramics found in the Sanisera Archaeological Site. Some other works: Study of pottery in the Portuguese National Museum of Archaeology; Excavation in the Archaeological Site of Cabeço do Vouga, Portugal; Excavation in the Archaeological Site of Castanheiro do Vento, Portugal.
