THE ECOMUSEUM> What can we discover? > The tramontana
A Landscape Sculpted by the Tramontana. Not far from the Santa Teresa building, the reception area for the visiting public, we can see an overwhelming landscape. The harbour of Sanitja, at any moment of the day, shares transforming light and colours that contagiate us of its peace. We will never get tired from contemplating the inspiring atmosphere or from breathing its quietness.
The harbour is open perpendicularly to the Mediterranean and the Tramontana winds arrive endlessly in Autumn. Sanitja is a refuge for small fishing boats, seems to be small and narrow, but it is a haven of calm waters and a very good refuge for sailors.
Tramontana’s Mark on the Stone. All the territory dates in geological terms from the jurassic times. Stone, basically grey limestone, can be seen everywhere, showing the erosion caused by the salty environment. The grey volume covering the peninsula’s rocky slope breaks its monotony with the yellow and bluish tones of the sand and water of the Viola bay, itself with three nice smaller bays.
